Since its very inception in 1957 as a section of Chemistry Department, the research activities have been the hallmark of its faculty members. Despite the limited resources at its disposal, the department produced substantial amount of research work of international quality. Several papers of the faculty members are cited widely in books, monographs, reviews and research articles. The faculty members also hold two international patents: German patent No.28,23,5 of membrane as a Biological Affinity Adsorbent in the Purification of Enzyme and US patent No.36,39,44,9 for a Process of Combating Hypercholesterolemia.
